Space, size, scale, and repetition are critical components in the creation of art; components that an artist must consider in the execution of their vision. MAM’s exhibition, Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artists and the Politics of Scale, invites viewers to consider how women artists interpret these components– intellectually, politically, and physically. A panel of dedicated female artists, including Dr. Antoinette Ellis-Williams (Educator, Activist, Poet, Artist) and Debra Cartwright (Artist, Inaugural AACC Founders Fellow), will share their generational and cultural experiences as they raise their voices to take their place in the world of contemporary art. 6 p.m. Visit the special exhibition, Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artists and the Politics of Scale, with a docent 7 p.m. Panel discussion
This event is sponsored by MAM’s African American Cultural Committee (AACC).
